Paris in May

I went to Paris for the weekend. Took the Eurostar; a great deal. It takes you from Waterloo to Gare du Nord in a couple of hours. Better than flying.

I was there for a UNESCO meeting and then I stayed for a couple of extra days. Walked all over the city -it was full; not like when I was last there during the winter.

On Sunday, 1st May, there was a march in Paris; with red flags and everything. Europe is unique in its plurality of ideas and opinions. It has existed for so long because it has had both a right AND a left. They both play a role in European society.
